C450 Tires
I have roughly 15K miles on the original Pirelli P-Zero Run Flat tires. To my surprise they only last about 10-15K miles with pretty bad reviews from tirerack.com. Unfortunately, they are the only run flat tires that the dealer and America's Tires say are compatible with the car. Also, from what I'm hearing, these tires aren't repairable, even if only flat due to a nail in the center.
To me this means the cost is about $1600 from AT or $1800 from a Merc dealership to replace every 8 months or so.
I'm hoping to get more mileage and a smoother ride.
My questions are so...
1: Has anyone tried other brands such as Michelin Super Sport with the Merc C450?
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....n&autoModClar=
2: If so, did you guys end up using a tire mobility kit to repair flats?
3: Are Tire mobility kits safe for this model car without ruining rims, sensors, etc.?
Thank you

well summer sports tend to last that long, my 3 series came with summer sports and they lasted about 25k so it all depends on who is driving the car and varies by brand, butsummer sports can last as little as 10k.
i'd just buy a patch kit , air compressor and normal tires. AMG cars (the c63 anyway) are like this and M cars. I have done this on my 3 series (don't have a w205 yet) and it hasnt harmed the TPMS or rims at all. honestly the ride is better and less noisy. not to mention 4 tires cost $600-900 now $1300 (i was going to have to replace some bridestone potenza s0001 runflats)
contiextremecontactt DWS they make in the 19" rim size. i've had them on a car before and they are a great tire, and they are all season ultra performance sport tires so they last 35k-40k miles. when i had them they felt better than that cars original summer sport tires (pzeros, but non runflat) on my particular car (audi a4 quattro). could be a good choice, roughly $200 a tire at 19" size. maybe pirellis just aren't that great

c450 tires
I 'm picking up a new c450 in 2 weeks and have similar concerns about the 18" run-flats that it will have. Not happy about the prospect of needing to replace them avery 8-10k Others have recommended the Michelin Super Sports as a replacement. I would not drive them without a spare, but a full size spare will take up too much trunk space. Does anyone know of a compact spare available which will work in an emergency.

I had both sets for my old 2015 C300 Sport 4Matic, and even after 6,200 miles, my 18" all-season run flats still looked like new...but the 19" performance tires did show some sign of wear after only 5,000 miles.

I am looking for 18" all-season non run-flat tire for my C450 because I would prefer not to have to change tires in the winter. The OEM run-flats are stiff and noisy so I would prefer a softer and quieter tire. What tires would you recommend?

The 18" all-season run flats are not the problem, it's the 19" Summer performance tires that wear more quickly.

Since I have two sets of wheels/tires for my C450 (18" AMG wheel/all season tires that came with my car I'll use for Winter, and the 19" AMG wheel/performance tires I bought on ebay I'll use for the Summer...that and the year experience I gained from this similar setup I ran on my 2015 C300...I believe I'll get at least 2 years out of my 19" tires, and 3 to 4 years out of my 18" A/S tires...driving about 12,000 miles a year.
Here are pictures of the 19" MOE performance tires from my old 2015 C300 Sport 4Matic (that I still have, and selling the set) with about 5,000 miles on them...

Any difference between SSR and Perelli's? Also, how does the negative camber affect the tires?

I've been very happy with my Continental DW non-RF tires. After 10,000 miles, they are wearing MUCH better than the RF's, they are much more comfortable of a ride, and they get better fuel economy (probably due to the difference in weight). They are non-directional but they are asymmetrical for water displacement. So, over the summer when rain wasn't an issue, I had the fronts rotated with the inner side out. I'd guess I have about 70% tread still, with the front wearing very even.

Did you end up changing your tires and how pilot Super Sports working out for you

I don't get the whole run-flat thing. I called a tire shop to get an estimate on winter tires recently and they said that they wouldn't install anything but run-flats on the car because that is what comes from the manufacturer. That seems stupid to me. I mean, if I get a flat, I'm calling Mercedes Assistance and having the car towed; Am I way off base here?
Also, my car came with the Crapinentals. I'm now running Blizzaks on my 18s and come spring, I'm getting some proper rims and putting good performance tires on. I figure between swapping the two out each year, I can make them last though the lease (45k), then put the Conti's back on when I return the car. That way I get the most out of my money for tires and don't have to spend any on run-flats. I feel much better about that situation.

You can put pilot Super Sports on those rims to. I'm getting the ecu tunned and the tires a week after. Find a tire shop who has the tires have them do it. With OE tune 448hp and 533tq combined with the MPSS tires I'm hoping to transform the car. I can't really find any info on MPSS nobody have tired them on c450 I guess. I'll let u know how it goes. Thanks.

Man I was trying to wait until I got bored of the stock power levels but OE is offering $300 off their tune right now...

I strongly recommend MISS. They are the best option for the moment.

Michelin Pilot AS3+. I have the 19s on my c450 and they are great. Excellent handling in winter and on dry pavement. The Conti extremecontact ultra performance AS are also well regarded. The guy that runs the tire shop I frequent uses those on his wife's Audi.
