2015 C300 - How to replace fuel flap and hinge?

Hi,

Due to an unfortunate incident, my C300 fuel door broke off at the hinge.

Does anyone have information on how to replace the fuel flap and hinge assembly for the W205? I found a video for the W204 but they look different.

First (least work) i'd pull the RHS trunk liner panel off.. and inspect for access there....

If no joy then I'd be dropping the rear RHS wheel off and the wheel arch liner.. (thi sis less likely)..

I saw no access to remove externally ie fuel filler flap open.

If it is the latter it is likely you will need to remove / relocate an AMP assembly to gain access.. its easy to remove 3 bolts and the AMP connector termial block..

Best of luck..

PS may be a good oppurtunity to improve upon the factory alignment which early on was low at the base and caised a gap / not flush on the top edge..

That's very nice of your dealer, I wouldn't think this kind of incident would be covered under warranty.

This is what I was worried about, having to remove the trunk liner or going from under the wheel arch. There's a video out there that showed how to remove it from the outside and it looked so easy but it was for the W204 though.

I think it depends on your relationship with the Dealer & Service Dept. My Lexus dealership was quite helpful when I encountered an occasional unfortunate incident over the years. I am hopeful my new MB dealership is the same, as it is the same Ownership.

How did it break? That might determine if it can be fixed through warranty or not.

No need to remove trunk liner, just fold the rubber boot over the tank filler pipe, snap out the flap locking actuator and disconnect, then insert a flat head screw driver in the holes to gently bend open the locking tabs holding the entire unit into place, remove gently outwards and remember to loosen the drain pipe.

It is a snug fit and you need to wiggle it gently around and keep tension outwards to keep the tabs from snapping back into place.
