Iron Chelate Wheel cleaner product note
Just a heads up;
I have been using CarPro Iron-X for a long time predominantly on paintwork as decontamination product (iron fallout) with no issues, great product.
As more of these chemistry products enetered the market the price and availability has improved making their use as a more regular wheel cleaner a lot more economical. THIS IS NOT ABOUT IRON-X BUT THIS CHEMISTRY OF PRODUCT.... the ones that turn purple as they react with FE.
Here's the important part;
IF USED ON BRAKE ROTORS WITH LARGE CALLIPERS COVERING A LARGE PORTION OF THE ROTOR, THE CLEANING (DISSOLVING FERROUS IRON PARTICLES) ONLY TAKES PLACE ON SOME OF THE ROTOR FACE.
THIS CAN LEAD TO DIFFERENTIAL FRICTION COEFFICIENT ON THE FACE OF THE ROTOR WHICH CAN LEAD TO MILD BRAKE PULSING.
(AS EVIDENCED THIS LAST MONTH ON MY AMG LINE C250 AU).
SOLUTION IS TO USE THE CLEANER ON THE WHOLE ROTOR BY MOVING THE VEHICLE FORWARD A SMALL AMOUT TO EXPOSE THE WHOLE ROTOR FACE.
Hopefully sharing this possibility will prevent others thinking they have a warped disk of a calliper fault when it is something this simple....
