Opening windows + sunroof with key?

Hey guys,

I love the feature on my C200 where you can open/close all windows + sunroof with the key, but wondering exactly how it works?

Sometimes I can get it to work easily, other times I have to try 3 or 4 times before I get it. Is there a set sequence I need to stick to, or do you need to be within a certain distance of the car etc etc?

Cheers!

I think you have to point the key towards the front door handles

I think what you are experiencing is that when the interior sunroof cover is closed, holding down the button on your key fob first must be held down until it fully retracts. Then, you must let go, and push and hold it down again for the windows and sunroof to begin opening.

Since you are usually outside the car when this happens you might not notice the sunroof cover retracting inside and end up thinking it's not working.

If your sunroof cover is already fully retracted, then the windows and sunroof start opening immediately.

Thus, people may end up thinking it sometimes works and sometimes does not.

On the S it's an IR signal (not radio like the other key fob functions) and bright sunlight can interfere. You need to be about 10" away and pointed directly at the little square receiver in the handle. Not sure it's the same on the 205. On the S it also starts the driver's seat cooling function.
