Question about tire pressure sensor for winter wheels

Buying winter wheels for my C450 and was told by several shops the tire pressure sensor cost an extra $80 each. I was also told that I could forego the wheel sensor, and it would be fine, dash light might come on? Does anybody know if skipping the tire pressure sensor has any affect on the cars operation and performance?

Skipping the sensors wont affect anything accept maybe your own temper, the car will indicate missing sensors everytime you start and then display a yellow indicator while driving.
Unsure about the US market but over here it is not possible to remove that warning.

TPM sensors for your vehicle can be bought cheap on ebay.

I paid like $150 for a set of five, and they work great...no reprogramming necessary.
