Ambient light retrofit- Burmester retrofitt
Hi, i am picking up my new C220 4matic in two weeks.
I bought the car from the dealer lot so i missed out on a few important options (for me) the first one is ambient lighting, I have read on MBworld that some of the users here think that ambient lighting in the w205 is to weak barely noticeble, but i would love to have it retrofitted in my C220 if it doesn't come at a crazy cost, I asked the dealer about it and he quoted me 10.000€ haha.
The second option that I missed out on was the Burmester Sound system. I did listen to the basic sound system that comes standard and it wasn't all that horrible but I would like something with a little bit more "ummph".
Is it best to leave the speaker upgrades to a professional and in that case what would that cost do you recon? Or could I do it my self as a DIY project?

$128???!!! IMO you'd be crazy to buy that. Those kinds of LED light strips are available by the roll for under 10 bucks on fleabay. Apart from the simplicity of the built in plug they provide, there's nothing there which is anything special and could be rigged up by anyone with rudimentary knowledge of DC electronics.
In any case, I think you'd still be disappointed with the outcome. The ambient lighting is more than just the center console light. There's lights in the doors, the mirror, the overhead console etc.

From what I've read the ambient is going to be costly. There's quite a lot to it, replacement panels, the strips and controllers, software upgrade etc
as for Hifi go after market as it will blow burmester away.

for me the HK7 system was one of my particulars since im a huge music person myself but in terms of the ambient lights i didnt know the ML W166 didnt come with it and i saw on craiglist somebody selling the console features that included the led lamps (the door panels and the center dash but it was meant for the X166 GL/GLS) after a while i was like if it wasnt meant to be there then it wasnt
