Mercedes-Benz of Northlake put a 6"+ scratch on my car
First let me start off by saying I only drive my car. A week Before getting the car service I washed and hand sprayed waxed the car. While waxing, I was able to assess each panels condition.
So my car is having some issues. The ambient light in the diver's door handle is a different color than the rest, and there is a creeking noise in the diver's door, also they looked at another issue dealing with the engine. I left the car overnight and picked it up in the morning before my 11AM class. After class, I wanted to wash and wax the car an as I was looking over the car, I noticed a 6"+ scratch at the bottom of the driver's door. It appears to (to Me ) some tool was used and damaged the door or a work tray may have ran into the door. The scratch is brown or tan in color, and is tangible upon touch, so its somewhat deep. I called the service guy who was assigned to me and he said he would see what he can do (if anything ) when my parts came in.
I failed to noticed this mark before leaving their lot, is there anything that can be done or I should do if Mercedes does not want to help me ?

Just be very patient and respectful when negotiating this with the service manager. If they categorically deny they did this you may be out of luck. You can put it through your car insurance
if you are a guy that will fight tooth and nail then please go right ahead and you may or may not get a resolution. You can always call Mbusa customer support but that is unclear if they will do anything other than contact he dealer and determine what their side of the story is.
basically if dealer denies they did it - it's up to you how much you want to push this. Perhaps moving forward you go to another dealership
I'd hit it with a polishing compound and a hand applicator to see if I could get the brown color out of it (which is what the dealer will try anyway). It may end up being so minimally visible after that you're not bothered by it, especially being so low on the car.
My local service department has an area you must stop in that allows cameras to photograph the car from multiple angles just before you exit to prevent this kind of scenario.

^ I 2nd that. What a great idea to cover both customer and business.
To the OP .. Hopefully that scratch is only in the clear. I would try a polishing compound first, then move onto a light cutting compound if you have trouble removing it. Take it to a detailer if you're not familiar with polishing out defects.
