Hi There,

I'm due to receive my new C350e in early December.

I have to make a trip to outback Queensland using the car.

Are there any Australian members that have fitted a "Car Bra" to this model (W205)?

I don't want to put film on the car since I will only do this trip once every few year and don't want to get stone chips. The "Car Bra" can be removed whenever I finish the country trip.

Your better off using the film, the fleecy backing on a bra can trap dust and become abrasive.
I got mine done through carcareproducts.com.au and the product is called XPEL (its on their fb page and not the website) its pretty much invisible.

Honestly Mercedes sedans do not belong in outback conditions, if you want to keep it pristine.

What you need is one of these..



Get in touch with user "wumpyr99". I know he bought one for his C63 to do some country highway travel. He's NSW based but will be able to tell you where you can buy them.

The XPEL or other similar protective film is a good idea though. That way you can get the whole front end including mirrors protected from stone chips.

I don't think that would stop the car from getting gavel rash!

I'll try the Expel, but, I can't find where to contact them in Sydney.

Bullbars are a known rash preventer - especially when you consider it seriously.
BTW, just to clarify - Wumpyr99 didn't buy a bullbar.. it was a car bra.

That's not the kind of rash I was thinking of!

Bullbars have a use, but, are ugly.

My first new Mercedes was just one week old when the front side wing and passenger door got severely damaged by a kangaroo slamming in to the side of the car.

Even a Bull Bar wouldn't have helped then.

ps The Kangaroo hopped off and seemed OK!

In your situation I would simply hire a vehicle for that trip.. the cost will likely be equal and the peace of mind not caring about the car getting damaged would be priceless...

You may well be right, but, it's the only long distance trip I am likely to do, since I drive, mostly, around Sydney. I would just like to see how it behaves.

I've taken 2 previous Mercs and the only problem was gravel rash (other than the kangaroo).

Ive had three car bras made for my Mercedes cars over the years. Last was was last year and its worked nicely.

I pressure wash after use and have not had a problem with scratching.

Make sure you specify which body style if you have the AMG pack and body styling.

I've contacted these and they say they don't have them for the W205. I'll tell them of your comment and see what they say.

The certainly should have W205 with the AMG body styling because they went to a dealer to take a template for mine.

In my experience if you ask they will do a template, but you have to specifiy or send a pic of your body type.

As I said in my initial post. I'm not due to get the car until December 12th, so, I can't do much before then. They never mentioned anything about a template.
