Unable to get into Homelink programming mode

I turn smart key to posn 2, then pressed the homelink button button , indicator light immediately turns yellow. When I release the button, it does not flash . What can I try next?

I fixed the problem by first clearing the codes . Then the programming proceeded as normal

It was a little tricky for me when I connected my home link to my garage. There are a bunch of videos out there on youtube that you can look up.

In my situation, I hit the two buttons on the outside (underneath the mirror) to clear the code. Then, I hit the program button on the garage door (should be located in the housing, usually a green button). Hold that button for 10 seconds and run back into the car and hit position 4 button to program.

I did this over and over and it didn't appear to work. Finally, I took the garage door opener from my other car and as I click the button to close the door, I held the position 4 button on the home link and that work.

hope this helps....it's a little tricky but like i said, there are a bunch of videos on youtube pertaining to this.

After I cleared the memory code( pressing button 1&3) , I started the complete programming sequence again and it worked. I think MB manual should have advised to clear the code first before attempting the programming sequence.

I was curious about this, as well. I found this MB video with step-by-step instructions:

The most important first step was to clear the memory of codes. After that follow the steps in the manual and it works .

2016 C300 4Matic traded in for a 2022 E450 Coupe
I just drove a couple of blocks from the house. Pushed the buttons on the garage door remote and car homelink until it flashed.....bingo Programmed.

I wasted over half an hour trying to get it to work, running back and forth from the car to the garage opener. Part of my issue is I don't read directions thoroughly. Then I watched the 3 minute video by MB, and completed it in 5 minutes.

If I do read the Directions, I start on page 4.....
