California: Where did the C350E go?

Hey, I've been having my eyes on the Mercedes C350e for a while now, supposed to be released to dealerships sometime in mid 2016 (as my dealer told me). Suddenly, the C350e models got taken off the official Mercedes website, the models were pulled away from dealerships and my dealer told me that he doesn't know why. Anyone have any information as to what happened or when it will be released in California?

Thanks!

Basically, there was an issue with the builds and they haven't been released for sale.

Likewise, I heard it was an emissions certification issue. For CA the cars had been sitting at port for over 6-7 months now. Considering the time I think it might even be canned entirely.

CVRP also tightened up their rebate policies as of Nov 2016 requiring 20+ miles EV range. I know the C350e claims that but international sources seemed to question that in real world.

Actually, the C350e is back on the MBUSA site. They are being sold outside of CA already, I think they have a long delay in their CARB certification.

Overall its not really worth any premium even after rebates. MB just made it to meet regulatory requirements.

Agreed, I'm really disappointed in the actual specs and it seems almost pointless from an emissions or fuel savings standpoint to buy one.

2016 C350e is in CA dealerships now. It is NOT eligible for CVRP (CA Rebate) because of its real world range less than 20mi in testing. In the Bay Area dealerships wanted ~ $5k more for a 2016 C350e (incl $4k EAB/Incentive) than a 2017 C300 with worse residual. My dealer actually said it was eligible, but it is defnitely not: https://cleanvehiclerebate.org/eng/f...ibility-list-0). Basically it was eligible until Nov 1, but they didnt start selling in CA until Dec 15, and now they have new range standards that the C350e did not meet.

For CA lease, I'd say this is a no go much like the BMW 330e. Avoid.
