How long does the new car euphoria last?
I took delivery on my 2016 C300 5 days ago and I'm still floating on cloud 9. Enjoying every moment with it, as it's my first MB and I've had my last ride for 12 years. The feeling I get with this car is hard to put into words, but euphoric is a good start. Curious how long this new car thrill lasted for you guys before it just turned into regular car driving?

The problem is that once you've had a Benz, and become accustomed to it, it's very hard to replace it with anything other than another Benz. So it does gradually become your new standard and some of the initial giddiness does wear off (which is why God invented mods), but as long as they behave themselves and aren't in the shop every couple of months, I've enjoyed every day of my Mercedes ownership experience. Once they start hitting you with four figure repair bills, the honeymoon is over.
My mistake was getting my first S Class. Very hard car to replace. If you're in love with the C, do yourself a favor and never test drive an S

Very true mike, I still love mine but I always have the habit of thinking about what I'm going to get next. I need to start learning how to enjoy what I have
But it does set a new standard, I'm a young guy (early-mid 20's) and am very fortunate to be driving this car, however I keep getting suggestions from my Dad about what to get next to save myself some money and it basically circles back to getting another GTI (it would be my 3rd) which I am ultimately fine with I suppose or getting a jeep cherokee or something in the low $30k range which I'd rather not do - it would be no problem if I wasnt a car enthusiast as my roommate isn't and he just wants a new car that will get him from A to B. Unfortunately and fortunately I am being spoiled by the C so I really don't want to get anything less in the future (going to try and buy my dads 14 E350 or my moms 12 ML350 from them I think, don't want to leave the brand just yet)
I'm sure your euphoria won't wear away for a long time, I havn't seen my car in 5 weeks due to an accident and I am ecstatic about picking it up tomorrow, modern cars age much better than they used to (my moms 12 ML still looks MINT) which makes my car still feel like a new car. Enjoy it!

BMW e89 Z4 sDrive 35i & MB S205 C200 AMG Premium Plus
I love my cars, the BMW in particular due to its style and wonderful driving characteristics. The Merc is lovely only marred by its totally **** gearbox.
BMW I've had 7 years and Merc 18 months.

I suppose if you, after break-in, always drive it like you stole it, maybe that gets old.......MAYBE. But probably not. Not to mention, while I'm in a 450 I hear the 300s are pretty sweet, too. Same interior, lighter, good performing engine.
So, I say drive it like a Merc sometimes - in chill mode (Automatic), with maybe some long distance highway runs. But every now & then you can do some sporty driving; give those paddles some love.
Or do all sporty, no chillin'. Just do whatchulike. And everytime you get in it, look around and speak the truth! Damn I love this mother(bleep).......Cost me 40-something grand; inside looks like 70-something grand. I love it! (Yes, you have the best-in-class interior).
Cases in point:
2006 G35. Still love it, all 280 hp/270 lb. ft.......not to mention the most recent Gs or Qs or whatever the bleep they call them are not as good, nor as sporty. Punks @ Infiniti done messed up the formula just when they should've been overtaking the 3-series that BMW also mucked up dynamically.
Got a CPO C63 in 2011, traded it in March. But I loved driving that frickin thing every....single....minute that I did. Miss the V8 exhaust noise, but the 450's 4matic keeps me and the wife alive and has V8 power, albeit 15-20% less.
So, keep enjoying that inexplicable feeling and understand....he or she will never let him or herself go, i.e., I trust you will maintain it well. Just imagine your significant other staying smokin' hot forever. Mine has. And I ain't talking cars.

Our C43 coupe still has that special feel to it after coming up to three months of ownership. It has two very different characters, refined GT cruiser in comfort mode and manic beast in Sport+ mode with the perf. exhaust enabled.

I've had my 2014 E550 coupe for nearly four years and I still smile like an idiot every time I get in and drive it! It just makes me happy. I'm not worried about what's the next car I just love this one since it was new.

I've had my C300 for about 6 months and I still LOVE it! It brings a smile to my face every time I get in the car ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Pretty happy and fortunate to be driving these cars since not everyone has the finances to drive these luxury cars.

I have a 1969 280SL sitting out in the garage that I bought new almost 50 years ago. That new car feeling is still there for me every time I get behind that big steering wheel and the original MBtex still has that characteristic smell. I have had the 300 for 18 months now and it too, hasn't lost any of that new car feel for me. Love them both.

W205 C250 Bluetec AMG Line
Ive had my new C250 Bluetec AMG Line for 20 months now, and I must say, I still absolutely love getting behind the wheel of it each day.. Gorgeous car, one of the best I have owned, and I've owned a few. One of the very few that I haven't lost interest in after six months, even with its few issues.
The plus side of the C, I work in a mining regional city in WA and its the only W205 here, still turns heads.![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
My '12 BMW F30 on the other hand, I was over that within six months and there was no coming back, as nice as it was to drive, it was plagued with problems from new.

I can't afford them either but apparently that's not enough to stop me. I get them CPO in the $50k range but I always get murdered on depreciation anyway. The 205 is a nice break.

I also agree with Mike that once you "upscale" to a vehicle like a Mercedes, it's hard to go back to a lesser car. I usually start looking for another vehicle when there's no longer any decent mods available, an issue arises...like a poor shifting transmission, the engine could require rebuilding under warranty, or the vehicle is evolved in an accident...or the short comings of the vehicle starts getting to me.

I finally gave up my beloved pristine 2005 BMW Z4 (45K miles) for the 2017 C300 coupe and have to say I don't miss the Z4. I still have my 2013 ATS for the BMW-like ride, but the C300 coupe is another story. When I got it, I knew it wouldn't ride like the BMW, but would be close enough in terms of handling. But, the big difference is in the luxury feel of the car while giving a nice ride. As I have said elsewhere, this car just feels sooo well made and sooo solid. But, then again, could it be the effect of the badge as the name Mercedes-Benz does conger up all kinds of well-built luxury images (never had a merc before, never had the money for one,) or is it the car itself? Trying to be objective (LOL,) I'm opting for the car over image. Yeah, I do love it...

You'll love yours until the next facelift or redesign happens, then you'll want the new one. ![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I loved my W203 though I only had it a year before I got my current W204. I still love the W204, but every time I get in one of the W205's I'm envious of the interior. Then I'm reminded that I don't like the steering characteristics of the W205 compared to the W204, so I'm still happy to get back into mine after service. I'd love to trade up to a W205 but the price difference from when I bought mine keeps me away and happy in my current Benz.
