I drove 3 hours last night to Wisconsin and I notice my headlights where dimmer than usual on top of snow covering the highway ! My headlights had a layer of thin ice build up. I have led headlights I figure they don't get hot enough to melt it.
anyway is there a product I can spray on headlights safely to avoid this?

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Now that you have us thinking about this, of course, LED lights would not get hot enough on really cold nights. Someday, the S-Class will have automatic headlight heaters, but we C-Class drivers will have to watch for ice and be prepared. Of course, spray de-icer will melt the ice, but you would have to stop. (I know some makes have headlight washers. The S-Class must have them too.) If there was any spray that would prevent ice buildup it, we would all be spraying it on our windshields before a snow storm.

OP, google for car 'pre-icer' . I'd give that a shot.
