Curb Damage

I talked to this guy at the dealer today. He said he hit the curb with the bottom of the front spoiler while parking, and this happened! The cost of looking cool...

I had the same exact thing happen to me on Christmas Eve. I was parking my car and my bumper went over the cement block which is usually always ok but this time one of the two rods that holds them into the ground was sticking out on the right side and as I reversed the car it caught the lower part of the bumper and pulled it off just like this. But as stated above we just forced the bumper back into place with a gentle push by the clips.

This is one of those few cases where it will likely indeed just "buff out".

The point is to NOT drive over the cement blocks.

This is a constant fear of mine. 90% of the time, I reverse into parking spots if there is a curb/parking block since the back bumper has about twice as much clearance and the rearview camera guarantees a perfect park everytime.

Great idea to park backed up if there are curbs. Aside from the back having much more clearance than the front, there is also a back-up camera to guide us.

Would be nice if MB would make the front parking sensors actually functional in those situations. The red bars and warning tone don't come on until contact is imminent. The Volvo implementation is much better in this regard.

I can't remember the last time I fronted into a parking spot, and this is one of the major reasons why.

Curbs are scary. Will destroy the front end. Agree with backing in if possible

Then everyone's gotta say crap and give you that look since you're backing it in AND it's a Benz. And you can't explain your reasoning because generally they don't give two $#&%'s about cars or anything else they own.

Oh well, haters gonna hate

or MB could fix the sensors and audio alerts from the sensors. Is that too much to ask? Borrow a 2012 Volvo and copy their implementation.

Oh well, I live in a mid rise condo complex with underground parking. Everyone backs in because of the Wonderful curbs in the garage. Lots of backed in cars of many makes.

I tore the nose off of my S550 two days before it was getting traded in. Some numb nuts had installed TWO curb stops, one behind the other. The car, on air, cleared them coming in. Backing out, in the dark, I heard the front drag and immediately stopped, and set the car to raise to its max height. I got out and crawled under and confirmed I had clearance. What I didn't see was the second curb stop, with rebar extended, behind the first one.

Got back in, and in two inches of travel tore the right side off about three inches, severing the wiring to the side marker and DRLs. I managed to get it about 75% buttoned back up and then let the body shop handle it.

The 360 Camera system should allow you to avoid this altogether, right?

If you remember to toggle it on as you're pulling in. I use mine all of the time.

How precise is it? I have it as an option on my order but the C43 I test drove didn't have it fitted so I never actually saw how it worked.

They are pretty legit. I don't have it on mine, but the ones I've witnessed are quite amazing.

360 on my GLC is great. Great view for parking. My wife loves it. My C Class does not have it. I wish it did.

Thanks guys, all the pictures of the system online aren't very helpful and when I placed the order I was too excited and forgot to ask my SA to show me the system on one of the cars on the floor.
