Cleaning the distronic plus sensor in the tri-star

During winter, road salt accumulates on the distronic sensor ... and if not cleared, will result in the "dirty sensor" message.

Just curious, what can/cant I use to clear the salt off the sensor?

For example, can I use glass cleaner (e.g., Windex); or a disinfecting wipe ?

I do as Mikey recommends, except I also mix in a small amount of car wash soap.

At the same time I also clear the other front mounted sensors.

Any waterless, rinseless wash or a detailing spray will be fine.. as will plain water..

I tried the water on a soft cloth -- on both the Distronic Sensor as well as the other sensors both from and rear (thanks for that suggestion)
