Update comand

I have a doubt. Are three years of free online command updates? Or have to have contracted the update?

Three years of free updates are for COMAND Maps only. My experience is that MB will only update other software if there is a problem.

The updates will be for the version of comand that you have as well as maps, they won't change you over to a newer version of comand as it comes out, if that's what you are expecting.

My dealer gives my car a software update everytime I take it in for a service, usually for minor system updates.

I've had the maps updated twice with no change to the COMAND operating system. I have also had the COMAND system updated once (separate from the maps) due to an issue with the screen flickering. The COMAND update was eventually successful, but it took a while. The system locked up during install and they almost had to replace the head unit. They eventually figured it out and the system has been fine since.

You're entitled to three free map updates for the navigation system. Other software updates are done if there has been an error code detected, a problem reported, or if MB issues an update as a service advisory.

You're entitled to three years of updates actually (assuming your car came with that option). So the actual number would depend on how many releases there were in that time period.

Map updates are free for three years then you have to purchase them. If your vehicle is 2019+, go to shop.mbusa.com (or Mercedes Me store for you country) and login or enter your VIN. If supported, it will be one of the extras available for you as part of the Mercedes Me Connect package. They say prices can be different, but I paid $150 annual for my 2022 and 2023 W206.

After you purchase it, the updates will be pushed to the car over the air. You can also login to Mercedes Me from a computer, go to manage services for your vehicle, select online map update. There you can install a program which will download, write, and initialize the map update on a USB drive. Simply insert the drive into the car and maps will update much faster.
