Finding a c400

Probably hard to find one as you will have to find an early lease return so I would look at lease takeover sites. You can usually get a great deal since most people dumping leases are in a corner.

If cost is a concern, the C300 will definitely be cheaper maintenance wise down the line too, I think the engine shares a lot of components and also the block with the current generation of the A/B/CLA classes which has been in production for over half a decade now.
Or, why not go get a new C43?
Sounds like White's got the car for you, and it runs 12s!
Btw, you're a Bowtie guy who drives a Ford?! Just kidding... I still got some chevy parts, some where, but have 2 fords in the garage now.
The C450 solved that with a tune, exhaust and some suspension bits cribbed directly from the C63. But I found the 450 to be a little rough around the edges as a DD and opted for a loaded up C300 instead.
The T4 isn't sexy, but it is spunky and smooth. In Sport mode, the transmission holds the engine in the torquiest part of the power band so there's plenty of go at the ready.
I'd ignore the cylinder count and drive both the C43 and C300. Good luck!
