C400 Back from Dinan...

Well, this is a disappointing initial review. Anyone else have feedback yet?
Maybe you should post in a thread initiated by AutoTalent or Dinan if you're not getting any response.

Give it the weight or credibility you deem appropriate but read the reviews for the Dinantronics sport app. 5 out of 7 are unfavorable, and most describe my experience: cryptic, flakey, unreliable crap that leaves one fearing the device, whether that's fair or not.

Are you talking about the app performance or car's performance? I'm less concerned about the app. I want the 40hp increase at the wheels as dyno'd.

The app is crap, and you will care because it is all you have to control the device, and know it is apparently working because my butt dyno gave me NO sensation of a perceptible increase at ANY setting.
Maybe my butt is too big?
Like the crackle? Well....

Don't go throwing the thing out just yet. I'm pretty sure there is a bit of a learning curve with the ECU. If I remember correctly, the dyno pulls after the VR piggybacks were installed, got better as the car learned the new spec. So it may get faster just yet.
Now the noise is the real problem. I don't think your crackle is coming back because of the way a piggyback works. By fooling the sensors into going to max allowable fuel/air, the piggyback makes the most out of your engine. The crackle is basically an inefficiency that the piggyback is going to try to correct. It is fixing the controlled misfire.
Keep me posted, I'm Italian, but not a guinea pig.

Without a great app, in my opinion, the rest is crap.
I hope you are right for other's sake, but I'm pulling this dude in the AM out of sheer fear!
Say, I guess you know the old joke about the Italian tank?

So the Dinan module has 5 settings, and the car also retains its 4 inherent settings?
#146
I didn't know if somehow the Dinan module overrode the stock settings, or if it required the car to be in a certain mode.
#148
Ok, thanks. Keep us posted if you keep it installed.

I will, but it is highly likely I'm pulling it. Because you can only control it with the app, and the app appears unreliable at best, I'm not going to risk damaging my engine.
When I pull it, I'll take and post very clear photos showing the proper sensor so others don't get confused. The Dinan photo is in my view inadequate.
I'm very curious as to what others experience or opine, but until I'm convinced it's safe and effective, it is going.

it seems very odd that Wayne had good results and good things to say about his experience on his 400 . I love mine and many other have had good results , yet you not so much and then very brash at Dinan . There could be an explanation, were taking about a very well respected company here , and to be fair I would think they will help . Perhaps they are busy, perhaps short staff today who knows ? Not sure one potentially bad box or something should warrant not giving them the benefit to try and fix it ? I'm sure they will have someone there to support this ? Give them a chance
