It might be a stupid question, but is it possible to get 4matic "installed" post production? Meaning, is it just a computer taking care of traction control ?

Sure it's possible, assuming you have a ton of cash and access to a top quality automotive garage.
It would be cheaper to buy a second car with 4matic.

It's not just computer controlling it, there are many parts that are different from the 2WD model.
One example is that even the suspension setup is different. (So it was kinda hard to find lowering springs or coilovers for 4matic models)
If I am you, I would just do a trade-in for 4matic model
