Remember, anyone that would be impressed by an AMG badge will know that a C400 is not an AMG! If you put Bentley wheels on your car do you put Bentley badges on it? I think not!
I have a c450 that I debadged. The tail looks so much cleaner without any model designation. Also, your car although powerful, was never meant to be an AMG car. Now that is not to say my c450 is either but that's a thread for the c63 guys to get on about whether Hanz or Franz built their engines.
The c400 was meant to be a small, luxurious, smooth car almost like a 3/4 S class. If I were you, I'd debadge and enjoy. It's better to let them wonder what it is than pretend it's something it is not.
I'm always conflicted with this. First and foremost, it is YOUR car. But at the same time, it is posing and kind of makes you look douchey.
I feel that even putting an AMG badge on the back of the 450 is a poser move and the car comes with an AMG badge on the side.
In conclusion, it you put "X" badge on your car, and it someway or another gets you laid, then I approve

Not true at all. I know many people that know what "AMG" means (actually they don't, they just know it's the 'cool' version of Benz's) but have no idea what models are or honestly what a spark plug does.
Definitely posing. The real question is.... WHO are you trying to fool into thinking that you have an AMG? You can never fool yourself and other enthusiasts with trained eyes.
Should you decide to do it anyway, please come back and share your experience when you get called out for being a poser.
I will have a good laugh if I see you , i love seeing fake amg cars just hate when it happens and I'm alone which is when I make sure to take a pic !!!
Hopefully you are doing it to get laid / in that case I would say DO IT
I was thinking about putting an amg Badge on the back of my 2015 Mercedes Benz C400. What do you guys think ? Is it posing?
I know the price on the RennTECH ECU tune is a little steep for some at just of $2200, but the work is done by and comes from - arguably - the aftermarket company with the closest relationship with MB and AMG.............and is MB warrantied, unlike Brabus, for instance.
The founder is a former N. American AMG tech. director, who as a condition of taking that position, wanted the OK to also start RennTECH back in the 1980s...though that fact is not in this particular bio:
The thing with amg badging is 90% of the population don't know anything about cars. 95% don't have a clue about mercedes/amg brand and will not care looking at a amg badge and the 5% that are familiar with the brand will know pretty much instantly that it does not make any sense. My pourcentages are absolutely not official .
That being said if you want to put a amg badge because it looks pretty you go right ahead it's your car like others said.
The real question is: What was the thought process that lead you to conclude you wanted a fake AMG car? (That's what the badge does. It falsely, publicly, implies the car is better and more expensive than it actually is.)
A similar question would be: Should I wear a fake Rolex watch (so people think I'm more successful)? Or: Should I give my girlfriend a big cubic zirconia ring (so other guys think she's taken by someone who's very successful)?
I think there's something else going on when someone so desperately wants the approval of others he'll sell himself out to get it.

Well said.
Mercedes has never referred to the C400 as an "AMG"...like it does the C450..."Mercedes-Benz C450 AMG". A C400 does not have all the performance enhancements the C450 received, like engine/transmission tuning, brakes/rotors, exhaust, adjustable suspension, and CRACKLE!
So I would say "poser" if putting an AMG badge on a C400, but not the C450. Like others have said, it's your car...do what you want to it, just expect to catch some **** if you do.
The AMG name has been watered down, IMHO. It used to reflect certain high end models of Mercedes Benz cars, but now it's just the performance arm of Mercedes. AMG logo is all over the place on all models of their cars (from entry level to AMG specific models). In fact, our 2017 C300 Coupe has the Sport Package came with "AMG body styling" and 19" AMG wheels that are stamped with "AMG" on them.
19" AMG wheels
In fact, in the UK and Singapore, there's a "C300 AMG Line" model (here in the US, I think its just called the Sports Package)
So is putting an AMG badge on the back a poser move? No, not anymore since AMG pretty much stamps their name on everything already anyway.
Would I do it on my car? No way.
My first Benz (aside from an 89 190E that snuck in there) was an 06 S500. The W220 was available with a "Sport Appearance Package". It got you the exact same front fascia, side skirts and rear bumper that the S63 AMG and S65 AMG got, and a set of staggered 18" split five spoke wheels that resembled the very expensive two piece split 5's on the AMG cars.
Otherwise...inside and mechanically they were still the exact same placid, cushy riding cars but they looked nice with the sport stuff. There was not an AMG badge in sight. It seemed like a fair trade off, to get some cool AMG cosmetic parts, but since the cars themselves had zero AMG DNA nobody expected the badging. (Okay...the rims had a tiny AMG logo stamped into a spoke, but you had to squint to see it.)
Now, AMG is having an identity crisis. The brand causes young buyers to salivate but young buyers aren't buying $100,000 AMG cars. MB diluted the brand starting with the AMG CLA 45, and even the C450 is a stretch. Never in a million years would the "real" AMG dirty their hands tuning a nondescript mass produced six cylinder.
But, there it is. Still, I think when it's time to draw the line between what is and isn't an AMG, leave it up to Mercedes. If they stick a badge on, great. If you want a car with an AMG badge, buy one.
