Phone mount, the BEST one yet
Sad this won't work for me as the placement is perfect for where i would want it.
I literally know only people with the basic trim, and I didn't think real estate would dramatically change in that space.
Added another pic for perspective
Did you have to take off the rubber lining on the inserts?
Thanks.
it's very very clean and tool-less. i love it. however it has one major flaw.
it can only be installed in the passenger side. and since it sits at a lower angle than my vision, i have to look down and right. also my vision is not that great, so most of the time i can't even read what is on my phone screen at that distance. so i always end up taking the phone out from the holder and just use it in my hands while driving.
this is on a iphone 7 plus.
now here's other options:
one that plugs into the CD-slot = very nice and clean, hoever it blocks the analog clock. i think the analog clock is the centerpiece of the w205 dash.
one that plugs into vents = it either blocks some buttons or the command screen.
i was really hoping this solution would work. i just received mine today and it does not fit in my car (i have sports pkg + command navi).
what a bummer >.<
on a good note, i'll put up my prospec holder + mount for sale here if anyone wants it. i no longer want it. if only i had better vision, this would have been the perfect holder.
Finally I got an exam and a scrip for a progressive tri-focal and I was floored at how bright and sharp everything looks now. It was like going from VHS to 4K.

i didn't know until i was 18, when a doctor finally explained it to me in plain english.
doctor said: "your eyes were not fully developed while you were in your mother's womb". so i was born with my poor eyesight. and with current medical technology, there's zero posibility of getting better.
i learned to accept it tho

You will need a lever to gently expand the area between the aluminum trim and the stitched dash. I used a flat head screwdriver. Place it in the gap, and gently push up or down on the end of the screwdriver. While the gap is expanded you should be able to shove the mount in with your free hand.
It might be possible to insert it without removing the middle tabs but I feel that it simplified the process a bit as I did not have to squeeze the spring while also trying to expand the gap with the screwdriver. YMMV.
Bare minimum with LED package and good sound.
It's been too long since I got it, all I recall is asking for sound, that was all I cared about at the sound.
It's one of the first w205, when they still shipped without rear view cam.
Yes... that
I have one of those rubbery indestructible (makes it about 1/8th" wider) cases on my 6s+ and it slides into the cup holder oh so perfectly. Having my phone in my field of vision whilst driving is definitely NOT and shouldn't be a priority. So if there isn't a cupholder or slot that my phone naturally fits in a vehicle, it will be either in my pocket or on the seat between me and the center console.
I'll post pictures and let you know how the phone sits once I get it.

Anyways, yes I did get mine and I would definitely recommend it if you are okay with the lower position!
Man that thing is SOLID when you get it set up right. My notes and recommendation are: - Make sure you get the dock down in there so the 4 spring-loaded notches hold it in place because then you can just pull your phone out and you'll never have to worry about the thing flying around in a turn.
- You really have to work the lightning cable in there so have a flathead screwdriver or something, and make sure you push it up far enough for your case.
- [Optional] Wire an Apple iPhone cable up from center console rather than using a USB in the cigarette lighter if you want to take advantage of the benefits vs. bluetooth. I actually took my center console out having referenced a CATAHA video, which I can no longer find, but this is a good reference as well.
Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions! Here are some (very unprofessional) pictures.
Notice (1) how far down the dock sits to remain secure and (2) how high I have the lightning cable to accommodate the depth of my phone case:
