2008 c300
c3oo recall information

I was in a car accident and my 2008 c300 was a total loss. I'm looking to buy a 2015-2017 c300 but I noticed they all have recalls regarding the starting current limiter. the recall is incomplete and from what I've read, it seems pretty serious. apparently the remedy is to install an extra fuse when parts become available. does anybody know anything about this? I have my heart set on this car and now I'm just not sure.

Its only an issue under rare circumstances. I certainly am enjoying driving my 2016 which has not had the recall work done yet.

A gaggle of MB's
If you buy new or CPO from a MB dealer - if it needs the updated fuseable link - it gets done before delivery.

It's literally a 5 min pull-plug-n-play

There was an issue with the wrist pins on some cars but, as far as I know, it was not common and can be easily diagnosed by the noise it makes. Where are you getting your information about it affecting "a lot" of the 2015 model year cars? The tech at my dealership told me he had only seen two out of the hundreds of 2015's they sold that had the problem.

I have never seen any published numbers, so I am very curious about the source of your information. I wouldn't use complaints on forums as a number, since all forums attract complaints in very skewed numbers.

My mentioning of this was more so something for the buyer to look out for. My car had the issue and another 15 they gave me to drive had the same issue and is now in for repairs.

The issue is real, but no one knows how common it really is. I was, quite frankly, surprised that CR showed above average reliability for the 2015 C300 engine. If that rating continues to hold, the problem can't be as common as many assume.

You had really bad luck with yours and the loaner. I owned two, and had two other long term loaners, with no wrist pin issues that were obvious. Plenty of other issues, but the engines were good.
