MB UK and dealer tell me this is normal... behind the direct injection noise you can hear a tinny rattle. Very noticeable under the car/outside the car.


... anyone else with the 4cyl C200 petrol engine able to confirm or upload a cold start video on same engine?

I have that exact same noise on a cold start, it usually stops after a few minutes, never really timed it.

I've never been to the dealer about it as it's never really bothered me due to it stopping after a few minutes.

I wouldn't necessarily say it was acceptable but it just doesn't really bother me, it would if the noise was constant.

Wouldn't mind finding out what it is though.

if that's the case why don't I hear cheap turbo cars rattling like my expensive turbo car?

I'm due a service so I shall ask the question and see if I get the same answer

I'm also swapping it for a MY2018 model in October so I'll see if it makes the same noise.

Oh, that sounded rough compared to mine. I have a C250 engine. I barely hear it inside the car.
