My first post here......hi all.....



had a little hit to the frt end of our 2016 c300...... I recall a little rubber ball like "sensor"? sitting kind of inside upper top side of bumper..above the MB insignia...it seemed loose after the accident


Today we recd the car back from shop......and that little black ball is now not there?........

soooo....did they not replace it?....

orrrrr......

is it normally hidden behind the bumper and I only noticed it because it had been dislodged from our hit?

i know these bumpers have several option choices.....

We need a before and after pic so we can see the difference. You might have to go back it time for that...

and an after pic does not show the blk ball...lol

heading to dealer now..to inquire.

I remember a post with a similar question. Turned out to be dummy blank for the 360 cam. If you don't have the 360 cam, you're not missing anything. If you do...theeeeennn you gotch yoself a sitya-ation there boy...

wife ordered car......I dont know her options.....

just spoke to my body shop...and a dealer....

no ones ever heard of a dummy set up!!!!!!.......r u sure they exist?..they both thought i was strange...lol

Ill check w dealer when I have her vin....then Ill know what car is equipped with

Save yourself the time and just simply ask her if her car has the 360 degree parking camera. Or get in the car yourself and put it in reverse and see if the 360 degree overhead camera is shown on the screen.

I could definitely be mistaken, but as I recall, the poster had the little ball/nub just above the star in the grill, but didn't have the 360 cam. Unless it's a sensor for parktronic? Dealer and/or VIN search should be able to answer either way.

If this is the "ball" you are referring to then this is a dummy where the front camera would be if you had the 360 camera.

but I just confirmed car does not!! have 360 option.......

and this service dept said its part of the CPA system...coll prev assist.....

so now, it aint there.........I got to get back to body shop........

I know it was there before the work was done

Don't waste your time the car isn't equipped with the camera that would go there, this was a cost saving measure by MB same as the blank buttons on your interior.

I do not think it is part of the cpa. It is a dummy blank. My GLC has 360 and it has a camera in it. CPA is in the bumper.

Dealers dont even know what it is... and have never heard of dummies.....guess thats y i never go to dealers for my cars.


I just got back from a local dealers outside lot.......and u r right, the cpa seems to be std on c300's, and some of the cars did NOT have the blk nub in frt of car in grille...so it aint the cpa.

so some of u think its a dummy camera nub?........ yet body shop and dealer know of no such animal?

how is it cost saving/.....y even produce such a blank , and incur the costs to produce???.......many c300's dont have this nub/blank
