BS or Turth? Changing Brake Pads for 2017 C300
I am just curious if it is true that you have to have a mechanic change your front and rear brake pads because it requires some sort of computer settings or I can just simply change it myself just like any other car?
I have a regular C300 rwd 2017. Thank you very much!

However, the rear pads require the electronic handbrake to be 'backed off' before you can do them. That doesn't require a mechanic, but you need to access the Engineers' Menu in the car's software. There is a full video description in Youtube that shows how to retract the h/b and then change the pads.

Extremely easy to change the pads.

I'm looking to swap mine out to ceramic as well. What brand did you end up using? I was having a hard time finding ceramic pads that I was sure would fit. The ones I did find were $175 a set.

Front Pads
Only did the fronts to eliminate dust but they do make a set for the rear.

OK so now I have to ask, I went to change the brake pads the other day and I stopped because I didn't have a set of sockets compatible with the spline/star bolts on the back of the caliper. I bought those but happened to read something on here that said the rear pads can be removed without removing the caliper. Are the fronts just held in by pin that can be drifted out or is it necessary to remove the whole caliper? I've personally never worked on a caliper that was constructed like a removable shell and i don't want to dive in just to find out i'm lacking another important tool or something. Thanks.

I don't remember anything special to remove them. Mine just had a couple of standard bolts to remove the caliper.
Here are two links - one on how to retract the calipers and get it out of park and the other on replacement of the pads.
I removed mine to paint the calipers and it was no big deal.
