Would a seldom used car benefit from oil additives with metal coating?

I bought a new
MB W205 MB W205
with a turbo 4L engine three years ago. However, due to my work that requires me to travel, the car often sits unused for weeks, sometimes months. I have a total of over 18k kilometres so far.

When I start the car after sitting for some time, I notice a lot of clatter coming from the engine, which goes away after a while. Sounds like the oil has all gone down to the sump and taking some time to circulate and lubricate the engine, which may be causing some unwanted
engine wear engine wear
.

Would an oil additive that coats the engine partswith a lubricating protectant such as Cera Techelp prevent or reduce engine wear in this case?

Many thanks in advance for any feedback or suggestions.

No.

But when you do drive it, let it get fully up to temp and occasionally give it as close to wide open throttle a you can without going crazy on the public roads.

A gaggle of MB's
What I would do..

1. Good advice - after a extended "rest" period - be patient on 1st startup to let engine get close to operating temp before moving out - that's the very best thing.

2. If it was me - very 6 mos or so I would treat the gas tank on fill up with Stabil Marine Fuel Stabilzer (blue bottle) one $9 bottle will be about 3 applications for you. It's the additives and ethanol in the pump fuel that have time in that tank to get "fuzzy". Stabil will keep that misc additve/ethanol tuned up in the tank so to speak.

3. When leaving for extended periods - best to pull the Keyless Go button - that way the MB is not "listening" for the key which is a minor drain that stops when start button is pulled

Great tip. Hope I am not without mine long enough to use it, but good to know.
