Hello! I've currently got a 2010 GTI and am shopping for a new sedan. I found a 2015 C300 4MATIC that I really like on CPO, but I see that the 2015 models score pretty low on reliability. I'm going to be putting around 20k miles per year on this. Should I be looking elsewhere?
They're asking $36,000, and it's got 25,000 miles. It has the Interior Package, Premium 1 Package (Keyless, LED, Burmester), Panoramic Sunroof, Blind Spot Assist, and the 5-spoke wheels (so I think sport package?). CPO means it's covered until 2019, but I'd be tempted to pay the $2,500 to get it covered until 2021.

I'd love to lease, but as you note, it's not a really good option with that many miles per year.
And is there much room to negotiate on CPO? The numbers I'm seeing online are that it's at most $1500 too high, and I can't imagine negotiating lower. I've had trouble finding many C300s with the Sport package and LED headlights (I refuse to buy halogens), which is part of what's making this one so attractive.
Don't lock yourself into CPO only. I imagine the 2015s still have some original factory warranty left? I would imagine you can find a C300 spec'd like you want it in the high 20s, and like someone said, probably a non-cpo C400 for mid 30s.

I'll take a look at non-CPO, but I'm currently pretty set on it. Part of the reason for me getting a new car is several repairs on my GTI over the past year or two of $1,000–$3,000, and I don't want to deal with that for a while, especially if I'm going to be buying something that's likely even more expensive to repair.

i passed 50k miles already and car immediately developed the worst road noise ever ! It was a loud noise when the weather was cold going over 60 mph , dealer kept the car for over 14 days cause I wouldn’t take it back unrepaired ! without a warranty I’m pretty sure they would have worn me down with charges ! It also made a noise when turning which they ordered parts to fix but few days later the clicking noise is back.
stick with CPO and if I may suggest adding on p3 but may be skip the sports package , I love the sound system with the nav screen (makes the car feel a lot more premium visually)
idk if you are in California but the car you are describing should sell for around 30k and below with that mileage / p1 only.

I was under the impression that $33k–$34k would be a good spot for this car, given the features (P1, Blind Spot, Sport, 4MATIC, panoramic sunroof, LED headlights, etc.)

This is great to know. Is yours a 4MATIC or RWD? Not sure how much that realistically affects fuel mileage. And this one was made September 15 of 2014, is that considered "Late" for 2015?

Couple weeks ago I purchased a CPO '15 C300 4MATIC with the P1 pkg., Multimedia pkg., Sport pkg., pano roof, Burmester, LED Headlights, for $32k. I'd push for a better deal. I don't know if you can expand your search area but there are some good deals out there. My dealership worked with me on pricing and also threw in at no cost new MB all-weather mats. Good luck on your search and stick with the CPO if you can unless it's an all out great deal. Also, be sure to do your homework on the wrist pin that affected the '15 C300s. Here's mine that I just purchased...

i suggest skipping it cause it adds on a harsh ride quality , I don’t have it the ride quality sucks even after getting the run flats removed lol
i honestly love this car but I look at the A4 owners and they are not complaining of mediocre quality , they have an amazing virtual cockpit with Apple CarPlay / android auto if I had to do it again I might go with an A4 ! It’s worth taking a look at too , they are priced even lower than the w205

Haven't seen any threads with W205 owners complaining about carbon build-up. Audi/VW owners on the other hand...that alone was enough for me to steer clear of the A4.

i think that was my issue ! at the time I got the c300 I had a brand new Chevy Malibu , switching from the Malibu to the c300 always felt like a downgrade , my brain would not simply process what was happening ! it gave me so much grief and eventually I gave up the Malibu then got used to the harsh ride lol

Yup, have dealt with this. I'd consider an A4, but the problems I've had with my current VW 2.0T make me a bit wary about getting another one.

Agreed—ride quality of the C300 Sport was still much improved over my GTI, but not super soft, which I don't want.
If I read correctly and you're coming from a GTI, you definitely want the C400. I traded my GTI in on my C400. Just do yourself a favor and at least drive one before you buy a C300. Because if you drive one after you buy a C300.... don't say I didn't warn you.. lol
I've had 3 Audi A4's and yes front break dust is bad. C300 no dust at all. I have sport 4matic and don't mind harsher ride but the run flats are so bad. Buying regular tires next time. Mine was built 5/15

I don't think the discussion of carbon was about brake dust—it refers to the build up of carbon from combustion on the intake valves of direct injection engines, reducing efficiency and eventually causing problems.

That is an absolute garbage price IMO. I was looking at a 2016 with 10k and they wanted $34000. I ended up with a C400 with 11k for $37000

Cpo's are also offering 2.99 interest, 2 years free maintenance, 2 payments. I watched mercedes cpo site every day for a month and got a great deal from another state. Plus the one year being additional, you'll be set for a while.
