Blind spot assist location for replacement

What’s up dudes just bought my c class so I’m new to the forum! Hoping you guys can help me out with an issue. So I recently just bought my c300 two months ago certified pre owned. A couple days ago the “blind spot inoperative” message came on so without hesitation I took it to the dealer today since I’m under warranty I figured it’s no big deal. So.. now the problem is that my service advisor said that one of the blind spot sensors was “physically damaged” and that it wouldn’t be covered by the warranty. Now I don’t know what that means or how it could be physically damaged because how in the hell is that possible. The car has always been garaged and I’ve never hit a pot hole hard or a bump or anything. So now the dealer wants to charge me 1200 to replace. I’m wondering how easy it would be to fix myself? Any advice helps. Thanks!

The sensors are in the bumpers.
So if you didn't hit anything with them than that use a poor excuse of the dealership if you ask me.
I would ask which sensor is damaged and how it is damaged.

Yes - it is possible to have a "hit" in the rear bumper than can dislodge and/or damage one (or both) sensors inside the bumper skin - it may not have left big damage to the skin itself.

On the electronic/Star diagnostic - it would show which sensor (or both) - but without physical pull/and further diag testing it won't tell if the sensor needs to be re-positioned and/or if it needs to be replaced.

Removing - reinstalling sensor (original or replaced) I "think" will require Star diagnostic/reset - again I "think" - you might check on that
