C400 Reliability

Hi all,

I have read the horror stories on here of some of the 2015 C300s. However the main issue on the C400 seems to be tire wear which seems to be fixed by switching to all season tires. Do C400s have the same issues as the 300s? Would it be a mistake to buy one CPO?

I bought a CPO c300 and while I had many issues with my car, I will say all most of my headaches could have been avoided if I did a thorough inspection of the car and an extensive test drive. That is what I'd recommend; and be on the look out for common issues that come up with regard to that specific model car. Make a list all the issues that the C400 was reported as having, and go to the dealer lot and off if the car you like has them. A majority of these can be weeded out through this

I'm also new to this board. However I just did purchase a C400 in December 2017. My regret was NOT buying at a Mercedes Dealership CPO. As far as reliability I would say any Mercedes is reliable if taken good care of. What I have read here on the board is specific things that people don't like. For instance for me the C400 has a rough ride. I've read that is 19s and the run flats are the reason. I got loaner from MB, while they check my car out and fix a few things, I can tell you that the base C300 that they gave me doesn't compare with my C400. Yes the C300 is not as rough on the road but it also has 17s with a larger profile tire. I've noticed that the handling on the C400 is a lot better and the power of course is not comparable. The sounds system on the 400 is WAY better then the basic system in the 300. Over all I'm happy with my C400 especially now that I drove the C300.

I can't say to much about the tire wear because I haven't had it for a long time. I do agree with Elbandito, drive the car and start asking questions. If you get a chance drive different models(C300) so you can see the difference in options between them.

Hope this helps,

Alex

Front tire wear is definitely not ideal. Mine has had more issues then I wish it had. Just got it back after a differential leak. Lots of creaks and rattles during warmer months. I have none right now as it's cold. Replaced a screen that was creaky. I bought the extended warranty since it was the first year run for the new design. Hopefully all the kinks work out. As much as I love the styling and power, the car leaves me unsettled with the little issues that have popped up. I would wait for the C43s to come down in price. I happened to get a pretty insane deal for mine so that helps.

I've had tire wear.. put better tires on, no problem.

Other than that.. the C400 is the way to go IMO. Love mine.
