Dinan Sport Safe?

I know there's been a ton of discussion on whether the Dinan sport is worth it or what the real world gains are, ASIDE from all that, does anyone know how safe it is to use this on the C300? Are there any engine experts here who know if this can cause any long term damage?

Thanks!

I've had mine on for about 2 years now and it has been working perfectly. After the last summer I got a check engine light a couple of times and I realized the connection within the Dinan had gone loose (the glue they had on there had melted) and it was losing contact over bumps etc... I emailed Dinan and they sent me a brand new chip and it has worked greatly after that.

Have you noticed any speed improvement? 0-60 times etc..?
Picking one up soon but once my warranty expires i'll probably get an actual ECU swap.

Mark, as you know, I have a few other mods on mine as well but consistently was getting to 60 .2 seconds quicker with the Dinan on +3psi or "sport" vs "stock". About 5.4sec dead. The biggest improvement in those times....were the wheels. ~10lbs/wheel lighter than the stock 18" AMGs.

Yeah, you've done a ton on your car! 5.4 sounds amazing, damn!

What do you usually set your Dinan mode on? Sport+ or Sport? Also, what's the preferred psi for daily driving/speeding?

That's really interesting and didn't even think about the weight of the wheels making that much of a difference, can you link or describe the type of wheels you're using?

Wheels are Avant Garde ART Series m652 in 19" 8.5 and 9.5 staggered wrapped in Michelin PS4s 235/40/19 up front and 265/35/19 out back. The 10lb/wheel weight savings is wheel/tire combo inflated. I was surprised they were really that much lighter but I guess between the heavy amg wheels and those runflats that came on them...it adds up. Reducing unsprung weight is easily one of the best things you can do to improve performance and feel of a car, especially in corners. I am sure the tires played no small part in getting to 60 quicker as well. I did those and the suspension together and was teetering at 5.9 +/- .05 vs 6.3/6.2 from stock. These were not scientific tests by any means, ie. weather and temp variations, different roads etc, but they were consistent results. I hit mid 5's any day of the week with the car setup in it's current state, but looking for mid to high 4's.

Sport+ 90% of the time at Sport on the Dinan which is +3psi. According to Dinan the race mode really only makes a difference with octane boost.

On my car I don't really see 0-60 improvements but I definitely feel it if I'm on the highway and trying to accelerate from say 80 MPH to 100 MPH. With the Dinan set to Sport+ (or race) the car pulls quite a bit harder than on stock mode. It's pretty fun passing other cars with it turned on.

Any other mods you do to your car? Can't wait to get mine. Definitely like that the car will start in S+ with this though. Don't think I'll take it out of S+ once installed. These CA freeways are a tough one to merge without having a speedy car.

Try turnig off ESP or better yet put it in Dyno mode and run 0-60. The Traction control on our cars is pretty aggressive and limits the lower revs, often mentioned in this forum as Turbo Lag....but It isnt

Butt Dyno says it is the best $299 you can spend. 10k on mine, no issues.

I had mine on for about 30k miles - ZERO issues.

There were many other issues with that car, and I am happy I no longer have it - but the DINAN Sport was fantastic.

I just got mine installed today, I can feel the boost slightly, definitely feel it in the 60-80 mph range where the car usually trailed off. I am however not able to connect via bluetooth, anyone else have that issue?

What mode did you drive it in? S+?

Also, what mode did you put the Dinan in? Getting mine installed today.

The Dinan Module is set to Sport + out of the box so i can't adjust it without the bluetooth connection. I drove the car in the Mercedes Comfort and Sport, will try out Sports + later today.

Ah, got it. Well, I installed mine today and it was honestly the easiest thing to install. I only tried it in S+ Dinan and S+ in W205. It wasn't that crazy? But maybe it's more noticeable in Comfort and S.

Yeah absolutely nothing crazy but hit helps a bit, more noticeable in Comfort/Sport. Were you able to get your bluetooth to connect?

Yep, make sure you download the Sport app. Not the Dinan (first one appears on search) then once I hooked it up to my car. Booted the app and immediately saw the Dinan in the list of available bluetooth.

Hope that helps!

Apparently they suck at developing apps and keeping them updated! Read through the comments and does not work with the latest version of Android.

A day or two after I installed the Dinan. I went out late with some friends and there's 5 male adults in the car and pushed the car as much as I could and then all of a sudden my car *i think went into limp mode* I'm not sure if it was the Dinan, but it was scary not being able to push down and feel the response of the car. No matter what mode I was in. Comfort, Sport or Sport+, it wouldn't go past a certain RPM.

Anyways, after that trip, waited 30 mins and car was fine afterwards, drove home and was back to its original state. Wonder why that happened?

I would double check the dinan connections to make nothing is loose (especially the connection that is glued into the dinan module. It could be that pushing the car too hard made a connector go loose.
