hollow tapping/rattling noise on uneven roads
Hi all,
Newbie here.
I have recently bought a new (to me) C220 Bluetec Sport Saloon (W205) and seem to get a hollow tapping/rattling noise from the rear passenger side (left side / N/S on uk vehicle). It seems to come only on uneven roads (not speed bumps as such). I have removed everything from the boot, including the crate (as it sounded like that rattling) and also the emergency tyre tool kit). I am at the moment not sure if it is coming from the interior or whether it is a suspension component.
Anyone else experienced this or can they give me any other pointers please? It is mostly heard in the cabin (with the windows up). I think engine / road noise drowns it out. I am not very familiar with the W205 chassis so if there is anything I can look at then please help me. I have heard the bootlid is common to rattle on W205s. I've readjusted the bump stops but its still present.
