W205 Warranty Ending...Keep or Trade
I have a 2016 C300 4Matic with about 40,000 miles. At first it was great, but then little things started to happen. Most were covered by warranty but now I’m seriously concerned. First there was the issue when the head unit went out for 3.5 weeks because of the Sirius OTA update (I’m not a subscriber) and neither the dealer nor MBUSA communicated, offered to help, nothing. It was just a dead unit until the fix came out, and I only learned about that from the forums here. Now the car is in the shop for an auxiliary battery malfunction. While there I mentioned that the license plate bracket had a little nut fall off, and they want $75 to replace the bracket, and that’s just the part (no labor).
I’m the kind of person who usually drives a car until it dies. I used to think of MB as one of those brands where you could do that, but so much of the car is tied up in the electronics I am concerned that is no longer true. Frankly, I wonder if it’s true of any car today. It has me wondering whether it even makes sense to buy a car any more. Maybe it’s smarter to lease since once the warranty expires it’s a money pit.
The warranty expires in about 4 months, and while I’m on the fence about what to do, there’s no way I want to own this thing out of warranty. If anyone has any words of wisdom to share, I’d certainly be thankful.

You can buy an extended warranty. Or trade it in. I would not want to own one of these cars without a warranty. Or you can try Subaru. I planned on having my Subie till it died of old age. But my father murdered (totaled) it. Had the Legacy 3.6R for 8 years. ZERO problems.

Wear and tear, and trim related repairs aren't covered by the extended warranty. It's usually powertrain, and electrical stuff that'll be covered. I agree with the above post in not wanting to have this vehicle without warranty. Too many things can go wrong and probably will go wrong, and then its lots of $$.

Everything is built with a profit in mind these days. I'm talking about projected yearly expenses related to this class of a car, so it is expected from you to pay that "fee" (one way or another) in order to own such a car. So, I'm not expecting old reliability from any new car today, no matter is it Japanese, European or American. I will not drive a car (especially expensive one) without a warranty.

it's all about business of making $$$
I had been driving mbz since 90s, 2005, 2010, 2015 and 2016.
15' and 16 -c300 were the worst I had ever owned, i4 turbo.
stay away with all cost.
I still driving my old 05'S430 with no annoying CEL issues.
New cars located them with a bunch of electronics sensors that noone can fix.

With the piston issues constantly hanging over your head, I would not keep any M274 powered MB past the warranty. I wouldn't even consider getting an extended warranty, they always try to just patch things over with bubble gum and unicorn dreams, instead of fixing it correctly.
I would also avoid purchasing another M274 powered car.
