License Plate Bracket Install

License Plate Bracket Install
Hi all. Bought my car in PA so the dealer did not install the front license plate bracket. Looks good that way but the problem is that I live in NYC where it’s required.
I have the bracket, but my question is how easy is this to install? Is this something only the dealer can do? Or is something that’s common and most local garages can install? Prefer the lattter for ease of getting it done within a few minutes as opposed to making an appointment. Kind of a pain in the *** in NYC.
Is is there a resource online that shows how to install the bracket for the first time?
many thanks!!

I believe you would need to drill into the bumper. I’m sure most auto body shops could do it. Or you could get one of these tow hook plate

How often do police in your area pull over vehicles with the sole issue being a missing front plate? Even in that type of isolated event, they will only issue a fix it ticket; I would leave it off until that point (which will probably never happen) and ask the dealer at which you service your vehicle for support at that time. There are many alternative products that allow you to install the front plate without drilling; google is your friend. That said, if you want your bumper drilled into and permanently marred, take it to a body shop for installation.

New York State requires both front and rear plates. Better to get it done now than deal with courts, judges, and the cops.

Well, I'm glad the great state of New York has every facet of its society in order, enabling it to waste citizen, police, and court resources on a minute $65 minute fix it ticket.
There are other options, like the one in this thread.
