4Matic: Off Road and into the Mountains
In Europe, the factory will attach a towing hitch and a wire harness for it to a C300. In the US, I would guess it's less common to use a C-Class for a family camping trip. But our Mercedes got us from 100 feet above sea level up to 8,000 feet high with pretty decent gas mileage and no complaints. I'll let the pictures tell the story. We had a blast.
Starting out in Los Angeles.
A 100-minute drive up into the mountains. For the last 2-1/2 miles, the AWD came in handy.
No guard rails:
Found a good spot:
We had the place to ourselves:
Nice views:
We boated and swam in a high-altitude lake.
All in all, a great time.
The camper weighs about a thousand pounds. I got 22 mpg going up the mountain, and 32 mpg coming down.

That's great! Thanx for sharing. Reminds me of being a kid and camping with my folks........although not in such style as with a Benz
