fuse for dash cam

Which fuse should i use to hardwire a dash cam? Looks like I have to go to the driver's side since supposedly the passenger side is all "live." I don't know which fuse on the drivers side to use though, that will go off when the car is off. I don't want to mess with the airbags fuse. Thanks

same question here... I hardwired my radar detector into fuse 216 (glove compartment lamp) but it turns off every time car turns off at traffic light

I’m using the glove box fuse in the driverside fuse box. It goes out when the car is off.

I would highly suggest getting a battery pack and running the dash camera off that. (Don't drain your cars battery)

https://www.blackboxmycar.com/collections/battery-packs

I use the Cellink B battery pack with my hard wired BlackVue DR750S-2CH.

The Cellink B only (fast) charges when the car is running (ACC) and can power the dash camera when the car is ON or OFF.

Also, the Cellink B can provide more than 24 hours of Parking recording power.

Cheers for the pic. Is fuse 204 constant power and fuse 219 only on with ignition?

struggling to find which is which.

219 appears to be Weight sensing system (WSS) control unit

204 appears to be Diagnostic connector

Cheers

I just installed mine and used the very bottom right fuse. Only provides power when ignition on. Seems to work fine.

Cheers.

My setup will require a constant and a ignition switched feed.

This thread details how to wire. I used the fuse box in the trunk. There should be a fuse map in the fuse box in the trunk.

@benzdude - I have been seeing your posts on different threads. First of all, thank you so much for sharing the wisdom and tips. Definitely helps a newbie Merc owner like me who is trying to install a dash cam. I also took your advice to get a battery pack from BlackVue. I could use ur advice on a couple of things -

1. I need to know which kind of fuse taps to use. This
one one
I ordered on Amazon seems to have different kinds but I am unsure which one I should be using. I own a 2019 C300 4Matic. Can you help ?

2. I am still debating whether I need to install a dash cam, as I have made through the last 3 years without one. Earlier in 2023, I had a minor accident which made me realize I could have benefited from having one for insurance claim. So I decided to purchase the BlackVue 970X-2CH LTE with the BlackVue B130X battery pack. My thought process here is that I want to invest in a dashcam that provides coverage beyond just accidents. For example, I am hoping having LTE functionality can auto-upload the video to Cloud, in case of a break-in. But I presume that won't happen if the intruder unplugs the camera from power source? Do you think having LTE is valuable?

Thanks in advance!

Good dash cam choice. Sorry, not familiar with that battery pack.

You just need a fuse tap that fits in the fuse slot you will be using and an extra fuse.

***Also, make sure to wire the battery pack to only charge when the car is running.

Here is everything else you need to know:
