C180 W205 Avantgarde
Downshift pull

Hi everyone,

I'm a newcomer to MBWorld and also the MB brand.

I'm currently driving a 2015 C180 W205 avantgarde. Initially, I hadn't notice any issues with the 7gtronic gearbox and have been switching between individual (manual) and comfort (auto) modes. 2 weeks later I began to notice a jerk when slowing to a stop between gears 3 to 2. I've tried the TCU reset steps (hold down gas at 'on' to 'off' and wait for 2 min) but to no avail. Then, when i selected individual for a bit and then back to comfort, i noticed the downshifts became smoother (much less pull), but the longer and smoother i try to move in comfort mode, the downshift again becomes more noticeable.
Basically, when slowing to a stop, I can feel the downshift from 3rd to 2nd, and sometimes 4th to 3rd- where previously it was unnoticeable. Is there an issue with the gearbox? Currently it's reaching 50,000km.

Thanks in advance!

I think the reset actually makes it worse. Hry have an update which smooths things out a little, but doesn’t ablate the jerky shifts altogether. I have the same issue and it jerks more when the car is cold and tends to become more smooth as the car has warmed up

I have my car at the dealer for the same issue at the moment. Initially when I got the call they told me they would be replacing the clutch packs but during an update they stated the part that needed to be replaced was the transmission valve body.
They received the part today and started working on it. I was having the same symptoms you described on my C400. I let you know how it goes. From a lot of other threads, I figured the dealer would just try to fix it by updating the software or come to a dead end, so hopefully this actually fixes the issue.

Finally got my car back. Shout out to Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land here is Texas. They were very helpful and updated me frequently letting me know what was going on.

The dealer ended up replacing the transmission valve body. Car shifts so smooth now. When coming to stop, there is no more jerking when the car downshifts from 4-3 or 3-2. Up-shifting feels smoother now as well.

I have the C400 with the 7G transmission. Not sure if it's the same in the C180 but you can try having your dealer check it out still. Wish you luck.
