Your next step afte your CPA expired
What did you do once the one year CPO was expired?
Did you sell your car or trade in your car?
Buy extended warranty when you first purchased your car?
Buy extended warranty right before the CPO expired?

If you plan to keep you're car for more than 1yr - then you are asking the right questions.
The good news - CPO warranty is based on time - and not limited by mileage. If you drive like a cross-country bandit - extended CPO warranty is "worth more to you" - if you drive 2500 miles per yr extended CPO warranty is worth less to you personally.
2yrs extended is the most cost effective - IF - you reasonably expect to keep over total 2yrs - 1yr is ONLY cost effective if you defintely plan to sell/trade before 2yrs expires.
If you are not prepared to pay cash for the added warranty - either now or later - then you will be financing the warranty - when financing depends on the rate.
Yes - extended warranty is 100% refundable - if you sell/trade before you hit it - after you go into extended warranty - it's refundable pro-rated by remaining time LESS any paid CPO claims -
