Making rear amber turn signals blink again?
Could anyone in the US make the rear amber turn signal blink again?
In the US, rear turn signal bulbs(or LED) are installed but it's not used. Red brake lights blink instead.
It's because of stupid USA regulations. It doesn't regulate amber/red color but only the size of the reflectors (aka, EPLLA, Effective Projected Luminous Lens Area). EPLLA of turn signals should be at least 50cm^2. It came from '1950. There was no scientific reason why it's 50cm2.
MB simply made the whole brake lights blink in the USA even if the amber turn signal is 5.3 ~ 28% safer than the red one.
Would it be done with rewiring or controller need to be reprogrammed with Star/Xentry?

Are you sure there's amber bulbs inside the taillights? I heard that the turn signal slots (where the EU spec is) are blank.
I've seen someone swap the taillights with EU spec (which also requires wiring and programming)
I wanna know if there's a way to activate amber turn signal for the US spec turn signal without buying EU spec taillights too.

Edit) If it's non LED(halogen) headlights, the bulbs are PY21W.
