I fear I may have front tyre issues brewing on my 2017 C250d AMG Line. The car has covered 12000 miles, the front tyres are overall about half worn, but, the inner edge of both is far lower on tread, not far above the TWI on the inner most track. Being very tyre aware, I can’t remember seeing a Mercedes without either inner or outer edge excess wear, are there any remedies to this, or should I expect no more that 15k from a pair of front tyres?
I’ve previously owned many cars of massive variation, ranging from Vauxhall’s Corsa to Alfa GTA and Audi A5, all front tyres lasted over 20k miles, I had assumed similar, if not more from a rear drive Merc, was I wrong? Is the set up of the AMG line allignment to blame?
The tires that came on our glc and e lasted 17k and 19k miles respectively; that’s around what you should expect. Tires that come equipped from the manufacturer do not have a mileage warranty, however you may be able to get them replaced by the dealership as a courtesy due to uneven wear. When it comes to tires, I prescribe to the buy once - cry once philosophy; your choice in tires can dramatically improve your experience with the vehicle. Godspeed!
Just google "w205 Excessive Front Tires Wear" and you will find a LOT of pictures of w205 c-class eating tires.
I just took a picture of my current front tires and damn! they look BAD BAD, tomorrow I will change them. The rear ones I replaced long time ago.
My lease is over in 5 months, not sure to buy another w205. No idea if the '19 models MB "fixed" the Excessive tire wear, specially the inner part. Tire pressure seems OK.
