Looking at C-Class
Buying a used 2016 C-class

Hello. i have been thinking about buying a used Mercedes instead of buying a new cheaper car like a Toyota. The ones I am looking at are Certified Pre-Owned 2016 Mercedes-Benz C 300 AWD 4MATIC®. Around 20,000 miles and the brakes/tires have been replaced. They are asking 32,000 plus fees. I will get 2 years of warranty. I really like these cars and I have looked at everything. Concerns: I think it is overpriced a bit and I have been reading a lot about the panoramic roofs shattering for no reason. Pretty scary stuff(This problem is across the board with many brands) Would appreciate any advice. Thank you! Kat

First question is if you really need a Certified Pre-Owned versus a non-Certified one that has significant warranty left. That alone can save you some significant dollars. Another is if you really need 4MATIC which usually goes for more at resale. It doesn't snow much where I live and the 4MATIC gets slightly less gas mileage and is something else to break further down the road. I would say 80% of the resales by me are 4MATIC so you do have to search a bit to find one without. Same thing with the sunroof, most have it.

I searched for about 3 months and finally found a basic C300 with the P1 package and heated seats, no sunroof. It was a 2017 with only 22,000 miles so lots of warranty left. I paid $25,800 (plus $599 dealer fee) at CarLotz. It's my third C-class and we love it, much improved from earlier models - we got 39 mpg on our trip last week!

Wow 2017! Bargain! Was the 25,800 with or without taxes? Assuming without? I've come across a few 25.9 or 26.9k 2016 CPO with miles ranging from 24-29k miles. I'd like to pay 25k (without tax). Not sure how some of these dealers may respond. Depends on various factors. One - how long the car has been on the lot.

Your reasoning is solid Loudbmw - as far as getting a non-CPO with lower miles as opposed to getting a CPO with more miles. Especially if you can get your hands on a 2017.

So are you saying if the car has about 2 years of warranty, I may not need a CPO? I am in search as well and doing some reasearch
