Mine has a few breaks in the metal film as well, but not that bad.
Curious if it's a removable trim piece? Otherwise, I suppose you could try to peel the metal film off & apply some vinyl wrap?

If you are still under factory warranty it will supposedly cover the replacement or so I was told. We will find out Thursday when the CPO I picked up Friday night goes in for that and a couple other issues that should have been taken care of already under the inspection but someone didn't do their job.

When I bought our used C300 same thing. It is matte chrome plated on a white translucent plastic. I ended up replacing myself with a new $25 dollar part and about 20 minutes of my time.

These trims pieces suck... The metal coating will slice your skin if you have a sharp edge.
Heads up though: You can now purchase just the trim and not have to buy the entire cup holder as it previous was required (as the previous post stated.)
The last one I ordered was on back order, since it wasn't the entire assembly.

MB Woodlands it is! Used to have our E350 serviced there until it was totaled and bought the C300 there last week. Dropped it off this morning and was told it's for sure covered under factory warranty. I don't know if they just replace the chrome part or the entire center stack wood assembly. Tomorrow ends our CPO 7/500 exchange period and I told them this morning if they can't fix the 4 issues I gave them then they are getting it back.
Just saw the post about being able to replace just the trim ring. They must have gotten tired of paying for a bunch of full assemblies to be replaced.

The actual silver part by itself you need is A2056830900; however if look only at used center console cup holder you can typically get it cheaper.

Just took it in to the dealer - have to ship in the part from Germany but covering the fix under warranty!

How did you do it? 😭
hey I hope everything is going well for you. I was wondering if you could tell me how to do it because it’s been nearly impossible to find information on this.
thank you very much

Work from behind.
you have to remove the trim that's across the front of the center console arm rests (where the release button is) by pulling up carefully and if it seems stuck push the button down while lifting.
Then you'll have to remove the two torx screws that are now visible.
Lift the console trim by the end that the screws were in. You'll have to lift enough for the push-in retainers to release and then lower the top (under the display) while flipping it over to the right side. Disconnecting wiring along the way. You can then remove the cup holder assembly.
After the cup holder is out, you can release the trim and replace with the new one.
Install in reverse, being careful of the wires and feeding them back into the instrument panel next to the head unit (so the wires don't get pinched or damaged).
Hope that helps.

@redsly thanks for the detailed help. You were spot on. The whole console needs to come up and removing the whole cup holder to install the silver trim piece was a task, not too technical...and well worth it.
I bought my 2015 C300 used and the trim was completely missing leaving the console janky and unfinished looking. I attached some pics. It took about an hour. You’ll need a torx #8 for the two screws involved. I went OEM from https://www.mercedesbenzpartscenter....ItMGwtbDQtZ2Fz
the dealer told me I could not order the trim alone and would need to order the whole cup holder assembly. $65 was +$20 more than eBay sellers but came with a piece of mind. I only wanted to pull up the console once.
Before- Completely missing when I bought the car used.
Console out. Cup holder assembly out
After!
