Removing battery key for a long time?
Hello, I have a 2014 c250 with keyless go and would like to remove the battery from the spare key so the signal can not be picked up from thieves.
The guy at the dealers said when you double lock the car with one key, the signal can still be picked up from the other key unless you double lock that too.
My my question is, whether it will cause problems if the key has the battery removed and left for a few months without being used?
Thanks

Not sure about the removal of the battery and how it will affect your remote. But, if you quickly click the lock button twice, youll see a red light blink on the remote, and that basically disables the keyless go, and people that may potentially pick up on the signal will no longer be able to do so.

thanks for the reply, yeah I know about the red dot. I think it’s best to double lock with the spare key and then just not use that one, thank you.

Kieran - the above reply is 1000% accurate - use the button on that spare key to deactivate the Keyless Go feature on that spare key. That done - that keyless unlock features for that key cannot be picked up by a mobile scanner.
