Is it safe to skip service schedule A ?
Wife driving a brand new 2017 sedan C300. At the 1st year marked she only has 950 miles. because it was brand new and low mileage. I do not want to do schedule A and went ahead reset the service indicator. My question is do you think it's safe to skip it until next schedule? Please advise.
Thanks
Thanks

Frankly - my answer is you are A-OK with such low mileage - perfectly understandable.
1st recommendation if equipped with Keyless Go - I would you suggest you pull out the Start button - and use the key fob blunt-end to start your MB. With the Start button out - your C-Class will be less likely to drain it's car battery.
2nd recommendation - even though you are not using the keys a lot - it is not uncommon for both fob batteries from the factory to poop out in the 1st 2-years.
For the fob battery thing - If you are Amazon saavy - less than $6 gets you about 5yrs-10yrs supply genuine (and fresher) Panasonic brand batteries:
3rd thing - you have Mercedes Roadside Assist free for the 1st four years - that tel# is under the Driver's Side Vanity Mirror Cover on the driver's side visor. Good thing on good thing on a nice day to put that tel# in your cell memory..
All to the good - keep the beat !

This would be the main concern. Any mechanical parts will be null and void from a Mercedes warranty perspective. I doubt the Roadside assist will still be valid either as that will be reliant on the schedule being followed.
Resale will also take a down turn, people will walk away from a car which has not been serviced to schedule, so you will be reducing your market. Dealers may well also offer a lower trade value.
Mechanically, not really an issue, but commercially you will be putting yourself at risk.

In the US - any MB dealer is not going to "void warranty" for skipping a service based on time for a MB with under $1000 miles... some people here need to get a grip... I understand the Brit owners have a adversarial relationship with Brit MB dealers and Brit MB warranty work... fortunately that stays on that side of the Atlantic..

950 miles in 1 year = 79 miles per month = 18 miles per week = maybe 2 tanks of fuel per year?
Not to be mean but why have a car if driving so little you could share one or take uber?
You need to add fuel stabalizer if you are not driving as it will gum up and the ethanol in fuel will soak up moisture from air like crazy.
Get the service done as sitting there lets the oil get too much water in it from condensation and never burned off.
also like I said fuel will be doing bad things
Worse to not drive a car then to drive it too much.

Oil becomes less effective as it ages, and by not getting the engine warm enough, excess moisture that forms in the engine will not be removed, which can lead to shorter engine life.

Maybe your dealer is different, but I doubt it, as corporate has to approve all warranty claims for the dealer.
As a DIYer who self-performs all of the maintenance I can, Porsche, BMW, and MB dealers have always told me to use OEM parts, keep receipts, and complete the maintenance book so the warranty remains valid, and to never skip a service interval.

let’s tease this out. The owner takes his car in for warranty service in 2 years, let’s say for some type of oil-related failure. Do you really think MB is going to pay for the repair when it learns the oil hasn’t been changed per the maintenance schedule?

the rule is that if they clearly demonstrate the causal link between the damage and inappropriate maintenance, they can deny..

You guys are downright brutal - entitled to your opinions.
The fact is 'MANY" if not "MOST" ultra-low mileage MB owners "skip" A service - this is a almost a everyday reality at every Mercedes dealership - and has been for years and years and years.
The other fact is "MANY" but not "MOST" normal mileade (8K-12K) MB owners "skip" or "forget" A service as well - interestingly MOST" BMW owners "skip" or "forget" their 1st maintenance as well
Let's separate opinions/conjecture from the equation - personally I have never seen or heard of a warranty claim being denied for missing "A" service - if you have worked at a MB dealership and seen this "really" happen - please chip in.

A service is the first oil change... the most important oil change.
If they have engine issues and did not do A service they are out of pocket for repairs...
Cheap insurance for a cheao oil change...

The question is: " ... do you think it's safe to skip it (service A) until next schedule? The answer is no, pure and simple.

I have seen warranty voided on engine.... owner never changed oil and engined seized up...
Point is if you do not do service per their schedule and something happen to component you were supposed to service they have the right to void the warranty on that component.
if they do or dont depends on dealership and your relationship with them.
Not worth risk of Expensive engine internals for cost of oil change which is what A service is for most part.
Do service yourself if cheap and keep receipts and record in booklet.
