Various problems during cold weather

Hello,

I have a 2015 c300 and I've noticed that there have been various problems cropping up especially during the cold (around -10 degrees Celsius or so). I was wondering if these problems should be looked into or if they were normal.

1. There is a strong smell when I start the car cold. The smell is similar to a mix of gasoline and sulfur. The smell goes away after the car warms up.
2. There is a very loud sound coming from the air vents when the car starts cold (My Fans are on). The sound resembles a deep whirring noise that comes from behind the vents.
3. The vents make a creaking sound when I change the airflow direction (air blowing on foot -> air blowing to the face).
4. The break pedal makes a hissing noise when I release or press on the brake pedal.

Thanks for your reponses!

Like you wrote, it's cold and it's going to get colder... Looks like your car doesn't like the cold. You'll need to warm it up properly for the creaking and whirring to go away. Not sure what you have to do about the smell tho...

Here's another thread on the brake hissing (mine does the same in almost all temperatures)

I have a ‘16 and it suffers from all of the same symptoms as your car. My Lexus doesn’t have the same problem in the cold so I wonder what’s going on.

Hissing brake noise is a bad brake booster. Should be replaced under warranty.

1. It’s a fuel hose issue. My dealer replaced my fuel hose late last year because of it. Haven’t had the issue since.

I also have the orher issues with the vent vent but haven’t really brought it up to the dealer.

Hissing sound is the brake booster , get it replaced under warranty. Mine was done recently after noticing the same issue during cold weather

Fuel Line was leaking, just had this fixed.

Same. The blower motor is very very noisy. Wrrrrrrrrrrr! I will need to try and lube it in the summer.

My 2011 W204 was the best Mercedes I every owned. W205 is quickly becoming the worst made c class for issues. (screeching brakes are normal???)

couldn't agree more. W204 and w212 platforms were for the most part very reliable and trouble free.
