c220d stop/start
I have a c220c w205 2016.
The stop start worked fine for the first year, but now the green light does not come on until the car has covered over 70 miles. I have taken it to merc and they say there are no faults.
If I disconnect the battery for an hour, the stop start works fine again for about 3 weeks, then the distance you have to drive before the light goes green gets further and further.

Great thread! I'm currently (as you can probably tell) driving a BMW 5 series, but thinking I might go back to M-B after reading some great reviews on the refreshed E-class. I hate these start/stop systems, and so I found this thread.
Note that the eBay ODBII fix mentioned earlier in the thread clearly states on the auction description that it does not work on 2019+ models. It makes me wonder if this method described by the OP will work on the newer cars (such as the E450 I'm thinking about).

I purposely joined so I can thank the OP.
It works perfectly. I have a 2014 GLK350. I pulled the plug on the negative terminal as per OP. When I start the car - the ECO light stays on for about a couple of seconds and turns off automatically. You cannot turn it back on (of course). I did not observed an increase idle in neutral (~600rpm) or stopped in gear (~500rpm). I observed for a week with the plug on and with plug off and rpm is the same. Also with the discussions of alleged overcharging the battery - who cares. You are lucky get 4 to 5 years of life on a battery anyways as mine was already replaced.
Note for anyone that is doing it - not to confuse with a similar looking plug on the the positive terminal (not the actual battery terminal) as well. Just follow the OP.
