2017 Mercedes C300 Sport 4Matic AMG Pack (W205)
Question Steering wheel differences

Hi,

I've been shopping online for a C300 with the Sport package.
I've understood many option differences, like the diameter size of COMMAND, the Burmester sound system, the Panoramic moonroof, the Vented Seats VS Heater seats, front bumper lip...etc
So, when I look at a w205 C300, I can know which trim package it is, and what options it has.

However, there is only one thing that I can't find information about: the steering wheel.

How come that I've found some C300 Sport with all the options that I've spoken about, but some have a round steering wheel, and some a somewhat AMG style steering wheel.

What's the difference between the two?

Is it only the steering wheel? or does one come with other options attached to it?

When you option in HEATED steering wheel, you can only get the round steering wheel. Flat bottom doesn’t come with heated steering option.

The Sport (flat bottomed) steering wheel is part of the AMG package.

It's clearly listed on the web page:

$2,000.00

AMG Line
  • AMG body styling
  • 18-inch AMG twin 5-spoke wheels
  • Chrome diamond-block grille
  • Sport suspension and steering
  • Sport brake system
  • AMG Line interior with sport front seats
  • Sport steering wheel
  • Brushed aluminum pedals

Yes @Mikey53 but as @impressions stated (and from the ordering guide concerning the AMG Line Package)...

"When ordered with Heated Steering Wheel (443), the flat bottom steering wheel is replaced with a round steering wheel"

Well, that's what I thought at first, but then the more models I've found, the more steering wheel difference I saw while all having the AMG package options.
So, these models for example,
They have all the options of the AMG package, only difference between the two that I see, is the steering wheel.

Keep in mind I'm looking for years 2015/2016, which didn't have the diamond grill for example.

Is the difference only the steering wheel?

is the only difference going to be the heated steering wheel?

There's a few different "sport" packages

The C300 itself has a luxury and sport trim, the difference being the front grill and suspension

Then there are interior packages that have another Sport trim. That's the one with the flat wheel.

From the models I listed above, could you see the differences?

In general hard to tell from a site like cars.com since the descriptions aren't always accurate and sometimes pictures aren't of the actual vehicle. Best to call them for confirmation of features.

Some things I noticed (all except the one that is sold where you can't see the pedals) have brushed aluminum gas/brake pedals. This is a feature of the Sport model.
5 spoke rim is standard on the Sport, although it can be a standalone upgrade.
None of them are luxury models. Luxury has 5 pointed star emblem protruding from the hood and not in the grill.
Can only guarantee Sport model if it has non-heated flat bottom steering wheel. As mentioned, heated wheel in Sport is round.

So, does it mean that if I look into a Sport model that has the round steering wheel, it actually has one more feature (heated steering) than a sport model with flat bottom steering?

I took these examples from Cars.com, just for demonstration. I've looked in many websites, and even at dealerships, but their salespeople didn't know much about options, they all just threw random answers to look knowledgeable.
I even went to a Mercedes dealership, and the sales person didn't know nothing about it.

Yes, if it’s Sport with round steering wheel it should be heated.

Can also tell Sport model by larger rocker panels on body side molding. Also, larger brake calipers that are easily seen through AMG style rims. Maybe drilled rotors? Not sure- someone else can weigh in, especially on a 2015 that you’re looking at.

You are correct that you need to know more than the salesperson. But that is not difficult.
