Decision time - C450 or C43

My loan is approved from my credit union. I'm ready to sign paperwork and enjoy my new car. I drove a C450 and it was incredible. There are 4 in my area that I can choose from, all basically the same. All the typical Silver/ black color scheme.

But.

There is a C43 about 1.5 hours away. It was a dealer buyback (couldn't get a replacement part in a timely fashion so dealer was forced to buy the car back? Never heard of that. ) It's listed at 40k even with 13k miles in the color scheme I want. Silver/Cherry Red. Not CPO. Not a Mercedes dealer. The dealer bought the car from California and shipped it to New Jersey.

I'm aware of the differences between the C450 and C43. Is it worth my time and 3000 extra dollars to travel the 1.5 hours away to check out the C43? If I drive the C43 will I not be able to enjoy the C450?

Don’t even bother, any buyback is very risky no matter what company. My C300 was bought back after they couldn’t fix the problem and our dealer said that they banned any dealer from working on the car for that issue and if we brought it in they would charge us. In fact with everything they tried they made it worse. We contacted MBUSA and luckily they bought it back ASAP, and I’ve sworn on my life never to return to that scamming dealership.
Not having the part in time sounds like bs and still shouldn’t have earned it a buy back, I would stick with the C450 even though it doesn’t have the interior you want. Unless you’re ready to take on something very risky and you’re not your own mechanic, don’t do it! L

Yeah it didn't seem right. Shame there aren't more C43s in my area. Literally nothing under 45k in a 50 mile radius.

Travel a little further then! It's worth it in the long run. I live in Michigan and flew to North Carolina to buy my C400. It was the exact spec I wanted and was $5k cheaper than any other around. A $350 plane ticket and $90 in gas back was 100% worth it!

I feel your pain. I'm in a similar situation; I just bought my first benz a month and a half ago from MB in Markham (CPO). Great experience and have been enjoying my 2016 C300. But now I find myself looking at the C450 that is for sale in my area. It isn't from MB but from some "luxury car dealership".

We need a support group!

Yup I got mine from an Arizona dealer. Cost only 750$ to ship to me, took 3 days.

I would get C450, a bit cheaper than C43s, and couple thousands of dollars you could gain so much performance. I got the 2015 C400 for $30k with 15k miles, just because it was in my price range and I could mod it to be faster than C450 or C43s in matter of like $3000 vs buying a C450 or C43 that was $40k.
