Steering wheel plastic bubbling

Anyone have any cosmetic defects with your steering wheel? Looks like mine has some plastic that it appears the top layer of paint is bubbling and peeling. It's minor now but I see it every time I drive the car. Wonder is something like this would be covered by the CPO 4 yr unlimited mileage warranty?

I don't, but MB will probably warranty it. They've been exceptionally generous on mine at least.

Your "best shot" is to address this under original 4yr/50K Mercedes New Car Warranty - if you are already corssed over to CPO Warranty - your dealer will need to write-it-up and submit under CPO for approval - and if CPO deny's that - then with that Dealer Service Ticket you can "try" to call Mercedes Customer Care and see if Customer Care will step in and assist in approval (800) 367-6372

There have been cases of "metallized finish parts" that have started to crack/lift on the metal finish - from my side on the leather wheel I have not seen the problem you describe - but I have seen wierd things happen when owner's/driver's have lotions/sanitizers

Thanks for the replies, I just rolled 90,000 miles so the original warranty is long gone, but I do have unlimited mileage until 2021. I don't really have a good relationship with my dealer as I do most of my service myself (pretty much have used the dealer for alignments and transmission fluid changes.) I'll give it a shot when I'm in for my next service. The pictures make it look worse than it does in real life but other than the steering wheel the car is immaculate.

Good luck - I don't think your dealer will be able to get it approved under CPO - he can try and then you can call MB Customer Care...

It’s a known issue dating back to 2008. My dealer actually inspected my cars to see if this was happening. Which it wasn’t. They should cover it.
