Gurgling sound during hard acceleration
Hey all,
Hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. I have a 2016 C450. In the last few months I noticed that during hard accelerations there is a gurgling noise coming from either the engine area or dashboard. Its kinda tricky to hear exactly where the noise is coming from. Most times the car makes the gurgling noise when I'm hard accelerating from a stop and when its under 2500rpms. Once I go above that rpm or reach my cruising speed the noise does not happen anymore. I have brought it in to two dealerships and had their shop foreman ride along with me so they can hear it. None of them were able to diagnose what the problem is. One thought it could have been my cooling system, but after leaving the car with them for a week, he said the cooling system looked fine. At this point, I'm not sure what to do or who to bring it to.

On my 2009 E350 the drains on the rocker panels were clogged and resulted in something similar to what you are experiencing. There may be a similar drain for the sunroof.
In any case, look for any rubber tubes near the rocker panels under the car. You should be able to see them without jacking the car up. I ran some weed eater string up the drains and couldn't believe how much water ran out. Good luck.

Could also be low coolant level. Air bubbles traveling through the heater core behind the dash can make a gurgling sound.
