Question SD Card - Does not show most files

Hi all,

I have a 2018 plate C220D (W205) and use the SD card reader for playing MP3s through the Command media player. I use a 128GB Sandisk Micro-SD (in a full-sized SD card adaptor). This is loaded with approx 6,300 files (mainly mp3s, but also a few AAC and FLAC) in a number of folders (no more than 4 folders deep) and generally works fine.

Periodically, when adding / updating to the SD Card, the car simply refuses to recognise most of the files. Eg Last night I added about 20 mp3s and made some folder changes and since re-inserting into the car, it now only reports 100 mp3s... very odd and inconsistent.

Its exFAT file system and windows reports no errors or issues. I always properly eject it.

Any ideas on how to resolve?

Try it another device and see if all files are visible. My Audio20 book says only mp3 and WMA formats are supported. You might try deleting the non-mp3 files. I use a USB micro-thumb drive with no problems.
