wrapping centre console

Hi guys
im probably not the only one who hates the piano black centre console in your w205, it loooks so cheap and it gets scratched easily. I havent seen anyone doing the wrap like i did, so i decided to post it. I was searching for ash black wood console, but im not willing to pay 500+€ for it. So wrapping it would be the cheapest or easiest solution. The problem was that usualy the wraps are done in fake carbon vinyl. I find the fake carbon wrap even more cheap than the piano black, and i definetly dont want it. So after doing my reaserch i was able to find a transparent wood effect lamination vinyl. It basicly a self adhesive transparent film which is structured like wood. The fact that piano is black, adding just the lamination would get the desierd effect. This weekend i had the time to put the console apart and do the wrap. I am very very pleased with the finish, it looks even better in real than on photos. What do you guys think?

If you read his post he already explained why he didn't choose carbon fiber:

I read his post. There are good quality carbon fibre wraps. I like his job but I personally prefer Carbon Fibre.

Hi there
i know there are quality carbon vinyls, i work in graphic industry. The thing is that i just dont like it, plus when someone wraps the w205 console its usualy in carbon, i wanted something different. Black ash wood in my opinion is the nicest console you could get for w205, and my result is quite similar, and im sure nobody tried it this way...yet
The material is: Hexis vwood. In the link you can read the technical data sheet if it helps you. This material isnt cast vinyl, so its much more difficult to wrap it around round edges, unlike the most carbon cast vinyls. It was a lot of work but we made it. We ll see what happens over time with it, but so far its perfect.

I like your wrapped console. Good work. Mine has a dark carbon cover on top of the original console. I not sure how the original console looks like. I guess the previous owner installed this cover. I planning to remove it and install a carbon fibre oem. It is quite expensive but i guess its worth it. I recently installed an AMG oem steering wheel i think it will be a good combination. Below is how console looks like. Since you work in graphic industry, do you think I should go for ash wood, carbon fibre or leave it as is?

Goodfella46, Wow that looks great. I was considering getting the Black Ash console but I will definitely consider this now. Do you think someone without graphics/wrapping experience can pull this off? Thx.

Andy74 i think you have oem carbon console, im judging it by the silver line round the edge. Oem looks like its just sticked over the piano black. It doesnt matter if im from graphic ind., its a matter of personal taste what you want on your car.

Greenyety...if you never done it before you wont make it, somebody with wrapping experience must definetly apply it, and it also wont be easy for him as the vinyl is very thick and is more suitable for straight surfaces. I have some more of this material and if you have somene who will apply it, i can ship it to you 🙂

Looks very nice, and quite close to the actual ash wood center console. Would you mind if I ask how much did the vinyl cost and how did you install it. I would like to wrap my center console in it. It's ok if it's difficult as long as you give me instructions I'll take my time and effort to do it cause unfortunately there aren't any wraping place where I live. Thanks in advance
