wrapping centre console
im probably not the only one who hates the piano black centre console in your w205, it loooks so cheap and it gets scratched easily. I havent seen anyone doing the wrap like i did, so i decided to post it. I was searching for ash black wood console, but im not willing to pay 500+€ for it. So wrapping it would be the cheapest or easiest solution. The problem was that usualy the wraps are done in fake carbon vinyl. I find the fake carbon wrap even more cheap than the piano black, and i definetly dont want it. So after doing my reaserch i was able to find a transparent wood effect lamination vinyl. It basicly a self adhesive transparent film which is structured like wood. The fact that piano is black, adding just the lamination would get the desierd effect. This weekend i had the time to put the console apart and do the wrap. I am very very pleased with the finish, it looks even better in real than on photos. What do you guys think?

i know there are quality carbon vinyls, i work in graphic industry. The thing is that i just dont like it, plus when someone wraps the w205 console its usualy in carbon, i wanted something different. Black ash wood in my opinion is the nicest console you could get for w205, and my result is quite similar, and im sure nobody tried it this way...yet

The material is: Hexis vwood. In the link you can read the technical data sheet if it helps you. This material isnt cast vinyl, so its much more difficult to wrap it around round edges, unlike the most carbon cast vinyls. It was a lot of work but we made it. We ll see what happens over time with it, but so far its perfect.

Greenyety...if you never done it before you wont make it, somebody with wrapping experience must definetly apply it, and it also wont be easy for him as the vinyl is very thick and is more suitable for straight surfaces. I have some more of this material and if you have somene who will apply it, i can ship it to you 🙂
Thanks Goodfella 👍
